Glossary

Access token
A token required to create a page. It is provided by the Create fundraising account API or by exchanging an authorisation code.

 

API key
Every API call requires an API key. These are obtained by registering on the VMG developer portal.

 

Authorisation code
A code provided following a successful login to the VMG system.

 

Charity split
The percentage of donations a charity will receive when a page is fundraising for more than one charity.

 

Event
An organised fundraising event that has been created in VMG such as the Virgin Money London Marathon.

 

Fundraising activity
Something a fundraiser or fundraising team is doing to raise money for charity, e.g. cycling.

 

Mashery
Our API partner who manages access to our API calls.

 

OAuth
A process for end-users to authorize third-party access to their server resources without sharing their credentials (typically, a username and password pair), using user-agent redirections.

 

Post event fundraising
The length of time a page will continue to collect donations following the completion of the fundraising activity.

 

Reporting custom codes
Management information codes that are used by charities to identify fundraisers and their pages for use in their own CRM systems.

 

Resource ID
This is the unique identifier for a fundraiser, charity or event that relates to information on the VMG system.

 

Restful
Representational State Transfer (REST) is a style of software architecture for distributed systems such as the World Wide Web.
